WHAT THE CHIROPRACTOR DOES: The Chiropractor adjusts the spinal bones.
The Chiropractic Adjustment improves your brain-to-body nerve transmissions.
WHY THIS IS IMPORTANT: Because your nerves and nervous system control the
quality of your health.
Interference to the Nervous System is called a “Subluxation”. This happens when a spinal bone moves out of its normal position and presses down on a nerve. Usually this does not result in pain, but it does decrease or “shut down” the nerves’ ability to transmit messages between your brain and tissue cells (internal organs, muscles, etc.,).
Chiropractors adjust these spinal subluxations and literally “turn on the switch” so that your brain can communicate with your internal organs and muscles. Then, and only then, will your internal organs function at optimum, the way God and Nature intended.
OUR GOAL FOR YOU AND YOUR FAMILY: Our goal is to provide a regular program of Chiropractic spinal correction for you and your family. We want Salem, NH and the Merrimack Valley to be SUBLUXATION-FREE. When people are free of subluxations they function better, perform better, live a life of abundance, and are fully human-fully alive!
You may contact Dr. Joe and ask him any health related questions you may have. He has 33 years experience helping people with all types of illnesses, injuries and dis-ease -to regain their health.

About Chiropractic
What does it do, really?
(Click on "F.A.Q." , above. )
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT ON MY FIRST VISIT?
On your first visit, the Dr. will examine your spine and ask you about your past health history. Please allow about 1 hour for this first visit, and please call ahead to make this appointment (603-212-0442) as it takes time to consult with a new patient. The two most important things you can do to assist in this examination process? 1. Ask questions! 2. Completely fill out the case history form (available for download on this page.) There is no fee for this consultation. Future office visits will only take about 5-10 minutes, but this first visit takes a bit longer.
WHAT HAPPENS DURING A TYPICAL OFFICE VISIT?
The Chiropractor analyzes your spine through tests and observations, including the way you walk, sit, and stand, as well as specific Chiropractic and Orthopedic tests which reveal the misalignment of your spinal bones. The Chiropractor may ask you to raise your leg, turn your head, lean to one side, etc. All of these tests help to tell the Chiropractor where you are subluxated. The Chiropractor will also palpate your spine, pressing lightly on areas of subluxation. If the Chiropractor locates a subluxation, he will adjust that subluxation.
WHAT IS A SUBLUXATION?
We are all affected by stress. Stress may come from an emotional source; from a chemical source; or from a mechanical force (such as a fall or just poor posture). Whenever your body is unable to adapt to a stress, a subluxation results. A subluxation is a spinal bone that has moved away from its very specific alignment, and in so moving, places pressure upon the spinal cord and spinal nerve roots. Imagine your foot stepping on a garden hose…very little water would come through the hose. We correct that pressure, so that the nerve can function properly again. Of all the healing professions, only Chiropractors are licensed to locate and correct subluxations.
FOR MORE INFORMATION ON HOW SUBLUXATIONS CAN AFFECT YOUR HEALTH, READ "TESTIMONIALS".
WHAT IS AN ADJUSTMENT?
After locating the subluxation(s), the Chiropractor will press lightly upon the particular spinal bone. You may (or may not) hear an audible “pop.” This is the normal release of built-up gases in the joint capsule surrounding the joint. The Chiropractor may use their hands, a table with drop pieces, or an instrument, to present a force to move the bone. The key factor is that the Chiropractor moves the bone. This is what “turns on the switch”. Have you ever had a circuit breaker problem in your home? You went down to the basement, saw which specific switch was “turned off”, and switched it back “on”. The Chiropractor is like an electrical contractor for your body; the Chiropractor locates the subluxation, and like a circuit breaker switch, turns it back “on”.
DOES THE ADJUSTMENT HURT?
Most people arrive at our office in some degree of discomfort or pain. If your shoulder hurts when you press on it at a specific spot, when the Chiropractor presses on it, it will still hurt. The Chiropractor does not walk on water! But after the Dr. adjusts your spine, and the subluxation is partly or totally corrected, you will feel better. The pain may be lessened, or may have a different character to it. The Chiropractor understands that any change in symptoms is a sign of improvement.
THE MONDAY NIGHT “DOCTORS’ REPORT” --GETTING TO KNOW YOUR BODY BETTER.
We dedicate our focus and our energies to regaining your true health. That’s one of the differences in our office. You will also sense a peacefulness in the faces of the Doctor, staff and our clients as soon as you enter our office. We are like a large family and we all care about you. We urge you to attend our Monday Night “Doctor’s Report” (Mon. at 6 p.m.) in which we discuss your spine, nerve connections, and discuss any X-ray or MRI DVD you may have brought with you. We will show you how you can help prevent these subluxations from recurring. There is no charge for the class, and you may bring a guest. Those who attend the “Drs. Report” always recuperate faster. Come with your questions !
WHAT ARE OUR FEES AND PAYMENT POLICY?
Ours is a "cash office". THAT MEANS that we do not accept insurance or deal with insurance. The patients pay us for our services on the day they are received. We do not take insurance assignment, we do not accept auto accident or workman’s comp cases. If you would like a referral to a Chiropractor who does accept these cases, please call us and we would be happy to make a referral for you. We accept cash, personal checks, all credit/debit cards and Health Care Debit cards.
DO YOU ACCEPT MEDICARE? Please Read carefully.
We "accept all Medicare-Age Patients". But we do not accept assignment for Medicare.
We accept "medicare -age" patients but do not bill Medicare.
This means that our Patients pay us directly for our services on the day on which they receive their care.
An ABN (Advanced Beneficiary Notice) must be signed by you meaning that you understand that the Dr. will
not bill Medicare and you will not be reimbursed from Medicare either.
Medicare now operates like auto-accident insurance: Medicare wants to initially see: (1) A Cause of the injury, (2) a loss of function or a pain, (3) initial care of many visits, then fewer visits, and then (4) a discharge/dismissal from care.
Medicare does not pay for "maintenance care". If this is confusing for you or you do not understand, please call the Dr. and he will explain it to you.
WHAT IS YOUR PER DIEM FEE?
For all of our patients, our per diem fee is $50. It is important to note that you may require many visits to get a satisfactory result. It took time to get you to this point and it will take time to get you well. If you attend the Doctors’ Report you will probably recuperate faster.
FOR THE NEW PATIENT:
DO YOU HAVE A “SLIDING FEE SCALE?” ( "IN CASE I MIGHT NEED A LOT MORE CARE." )
YES! If you have never received Chiropractic Care before you have to understand that (1) It probably took some time to get to your present condition; and (2) It will take the Chiropractor TIME to restore your spinal health.
So the first month or two the Dr. has to see you frequently-often 2, 3 or more times a week. I realize that at the
"per diem" rate of $50 this might become a burden, so I have a policy of:
INTENSIVE CARE - FIRST MONTH: $150 covers an UNlimited number of visits. *
INTENSIVE CARE - SECOND MONTH: Again, just $150 for an UNlimited number of visits.*
It allows for Intensive care. “Intensive care” at our facility means that the Dr. will direct you to a visit-frequency of 3 or 4 times per week. On occasion, some injuries require twice-a-day visits. Frequent visits help to maximize your spinal alignment and improve your overall health. * Does NOT include vitamins, pillows, or services outside this office.
A contract is required for this so you understand what this program actually offers and excludes.
Once you learn:
-
what health really is,
-
what a subluxation is,
-
what it takes to regain your health
-
what it takes to maintain your health,
You will never want to be without Chiropractic Care ever again!
SO, WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE FIRST 2 MONTHS?
After these first two months, I invite you to continue on a “WELLNESS PLAN”. After receiving quality Chiropractic adjustments, --You will not want to be without regular chiropractic care ever again! We are certain of it; 85% of our patients are on our Wellness Program. A pre-requisite is that you have attended a Doctors’ Report Class, and have signed a contract with us.
THE WELLNESS PLAN
FOR ESTABLISHED PATIENTS.
(Designed for those who have already completed the Intensive Care Phase at our office OR any other chiropractors office in the recent past.) Designed for those already under regular chiropractic care, the fee is $130 per month. With this monthly plan you have an unlimited number of visits, but your participation of at least a once a week visit frequency is required. Again, you may include your children (18 and younger) in your plan. A six-month contract is required. After 6 months it may be renewed on a monthly basis.
